今回は、「Googleマップ」にて高速道路の料金表示ができるようになるというニュースをご紹介したいと思います。
2022年3月までの「Googleマップ」では目的地までの距離や時間、有料道路かどうかなどが表示されていましたが、高速道路の料金は表示されていませんでした。
2022年4月5日に、Googleは、4月から日本を含め、アメリカ、インド、インドネシアなどでGoogleマップにおける高速道路の通行料金の表示を開始するアップデートを行うと発表しました。

Soon, you’ll see the estimated toll price to your destination before you start navigating thanks to trusted information from local tolling authorities. We look at factors like the cost of using a toll pass or other payment methods, what the day of the week it is, along with how much the toll is expected to cost at the specific time you’ll be crossing it.

日本の高速道路の場合、車種や時間帯などによって料金が違うのでどのように料金が表示されるのか興味深いですね。料金に関しては、「trusted information from local tolling authorities」と記載されているので道路会社から正規の情報をもらう形になっているのかもしれません。
Googleから提供されたサンプル画像は英語版なので、日本語版とは異なると思いますが、こんな感じで料金が表示されるようです。
設定にて料金表示をするかどうかの切替ができるようになるみたいです。ただし、設定の文言に「estimates based on standard pass for each toll road, when avaiable」とあるので、いわゆる普通車の料金が表示されるだけなのかもしれませんね。設定にて特大車とか中型車とか二輪車とか登録できれば、車種ごとの料金に対応できるのかもしれませんが、現時点では、そこまでの機能はなさそうな印象です。
そうであれば、まだまだ「ドラぷら」は必要ですが、普通車であれば、Googleマップで十分ということかもしれません。
Googleマップのアップデートは、Android、iOS、Android Auto、CarPlayで、今後数週間のうちに一部の国で開始されるとのこと。
どのように料金表示されるのか楽しみですね。
